Kids Education

Kids WHEELY in Control – Recommended ages: 8-13

IMG_0372
Young riders will learn how to become safe cyclists. This course is for kids who are comfortable riding their bikes, but may not know the rights and responsibilities they have as a cyclist as they venture out on their bikes without adult supervision. This course includes bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat and bicycle traffic laws. Challenges are presented for every skill level in this 4-5 hour course typically taught in two sessions. The cost is $60 per student; discounts apply for groups of 15 or larger. For more information, contact Robyn Elliott at robyn@biketoursatl.com.

Community Bicycle Round-Up

IMG_0584
This is a customized community event where all ages and skill levels of bike riders and cyclists come together to learn bicycle safety while improving their overall skills. We deliver a blend of three programs, Kids Wheely in Control, Cycling Skills for Parents and Urban Cycling Education Series to an entire community in their neighborhood. By delivering the program in the students’ neighborhood, we can help identify dangerous areas and safe zones for children.

This community program also helps the motorist learn the skill level of the young cyclists. This is helpful for everyone since motorists pose a threat to young cyclists. Non-cyclists in the community are invited to attend a special module called Neighborhood Bike and Motorist Basics.

A program can be designed as a one- or two-day course or taught over several weeks. It is the most cost-effective way to deliver bike education to a community. We provide a custom quote once you tell us the number, skill and ages of participants. Recommended ages: 8 to adult. For more information, contact Robyn Elliott at robyn@biketoursatl.com.

Neighborhood Bike and Motorist Basics

Recommended for cyclists and non-cyclists 15 years and up. This 90-minute presentation will introduce a community to the importance of vehicular bicycling, the foundation of safe cycling practices. This program is for both cyclists and motorists in the community because educating the person behind the wheel is as important as educating the person riding on two! An indoor gathering place is required and the cost is $200. The number of attendees is limited only by the space provided by the community. Cycling Skills for Parents

This is an important 90-minute course designed for parents. We share proven techniques for teaching children how to ride, how to properly fit helmets and bikes, how to perform bicycle safety checks before each ride and show an enlightening video called “Kids Eye View.” An indoor gathering place is required and the cost is $20 per family represented.
